Chris Miller Says Sony Is Working On Spider-Man Universe TV Shows
Sony is having some success with its Spider-Man properties outside of the MCU, and Chris Miller says that’s extending to television. The Into the Spider-Verse co-director spoke with Deadline and discussed the planned “suite” of TV shows, which will be referred to as “Spider-Verse,” and said that the shows will be live-action.
“We are developing a handful of live-action shows using Sony’s Marvel characters, of which there are like 900 characters,” Miller said. “We’re figuring out a way to develop the shows so that each are their own unique experience but are also related.”
He added, “We’ve been talking to a lot of potential teammates for trying to do something not like anything else that’s been done on television,” Miller continued. “It’ll be a little while before it all comes together and is on the air, but I think it is going to be something really special.”
Details on the project aren’t known beyond the above, but as Miller said the Spider-Man rights include a ton of characters. Sony is leveraging some of them on film, such as Venom and Morbius. Whether those films would be connected to this TV universe is not known.
