The Dungeons & Dragons movie may have found one of its stars in none other than Chris Pine. Variety reports that the Wonder Woman 1984 and Star Trek star is in talks to star in the upcoming film, which will be directed by Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley (Game Night).

Pine’s role is as yet unknown for the film, which Goldstein and Daley are re-writting from a draft by Michael Gilio. While plot details are being kept under wraps, a report from late last year stated that the story will involve the Eye of Vecna, a well-known artifact from the popular tabletop roleplaying game’s lore.

That report noted that the heroes of the story would be Raven Hightower, a warrior haunted by his sister’s death who wields a magic flaming sword; Hack Karroway, a “half-dragon”; a gnome thief named Olivan Trickfoot; and Alyssa Steelsong, a masked warrior. The chief villain is Razer Horlbar, a drow male who kept Raven and his sister as slaves, as well as a female tiefling named Damala and “The Beast,” a brutish warrior. The film would be set in the Forgotten Realms setting, if that report is to be believed.

Paramount currently has the film set for a May 27th, 2022 release date.
