Craig Gillespie To Direct Cruella de Vil Movie For Disney

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Craig Gillespie (I, Tonya) is in talks to direct a live-action film following 101 Dalmatians villain Cruella de Vil. Alex Timbers was originally set to direct the film, called Cruella, but backed out due to a schedule conflict. Emma Stone is set to play the villain that wants a fur coat made out of the black and white pooches. Andrew Gunn, Marc Platt and Kristin Burr will produce. The film is said to be an origin story that will be in the early 1980s and have a “punk vibe.”

The character first appeared in the 1961 animated film, with Glenn Close playing her in the 1996 live-action adaptation produced by John Hughes.
