Larry David’s Curb Your Enthusiasm is finally coming to an end, with the upcoming 12th season set to be its last. HBO announced on Thursday that the long-running comedy season will be ending with its final run, which premieres on February 4th on HBO and Max for a 10-episode run.
Curb first premiered back in 2000 and has been a juggernaut for HBO in terms of both acclaim and viewership with 47 Primetime Emmy Awards nominations. It ran for eight seasons (mostly) consecutively before taking a break in 2011 and returning in 2017 for its ninth season. The most recent season ran in 2021.
”As Curb comes to an end, I will now have the opportunity to finally shed this ‘Larry David’ persona and become the person God intended me to be – the thoughtful, kind, caring, considerate human being I was until I got derailed by portraying this malignant character,” David said in a statement. “And so ‘Larry David,’ I bid you farewell. Your misanthropy will not be missed. And for those of you who would like to get in touch with me, you can reach me at Doctors Without Borders.”
HBO and Max Content head Casey Bloys added, “It’s hard to say farewell to such a ground-breaking, brilliantly funny and iconic series like Curb Your Enthusiasm, which has left its mark across television and the comedy genre. Working alongside Larry David and Jeff Schaffer as well as all of the comedic masterminds that comprise our producers, cast and crew has been a joy that I will always treasure.”
