Three new Star Wars films were revealed at Star Wars Celebration on Friday, including one which will see Daisy Ridley return to the franchise as Rey. As Variety reports, the fan convention in London saw the announcement of three new films, the first of which will see Ridley reprise her role from the most recent trilogy.

The new film will follow Rey after the events of Star Wars: Episode IX – Rise of Skywalker as she builds a new Jedi Order. Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy (Ms. Marvel) will direct the film from a script by Steven Knight (Peaky Blinders).

Kenny noted that all three films are “still very early days.” In addition to the Rey-centered film, James Mangold will direct Dawn of the Jedi which will focus on the earliest era of the Star Wars universe. Mangold said he is still writing the movie and that it is inspired by the idea of a “biblical epic,” explaining the origins of the Force’s spirituality of the force originates.

Finally, Dave Filoni revealed that he is working on a film that will take place in the New Republic Era and explore an “epic war.” The series will finish out the interconnected stories told by several Disney+ Star Wars shows including The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett, and Ahsoka, which released its first trailer at the convention and arrives in August.

Filoni noted that putting together the narratives between the film and TV properies is a “big tapestry that’s being woven. I love to think of stories in that context. You’re not bound at all. I hope you walk into that theater and whether you’ve seen a series or not, you enjoy the movie.”

No release dates were announced for any of the three films.
