Danny Boyle Says He’s Directing James Bond 25

Speaking to Metro US, filmmaker Danny Boyle has confirmed that he is going to direct the next installment of the James Bond 007 franchise, James Bond 25. Boyle revealed the news at a recent New York screening for his new FX show, Trust, at the Florence Gould Hall Theater.

The director of such films as Slumdog Millionaire, 127 Hours and 28 Days Later has been rumored to be in talks for the film for a number of months. According to Boyle, the plan is start shooting the film at the end of the year. Boyle stated, “We are working on a script right now. And it all depends on that really. I am working on a Richard Curtis script at the moment. We hope to start shooting that in six or seven weeks. Then Bond would be right at the end of the year. But we are working on them both right now.”

He added, “We’ve got an idea, John Hodge, the screenwriter [for the James Bond movie], and I have got this idea, and John is writing it at the moment. And it all depends on how it turns out. It would be foolish of me to give any of it away.”

Hodge previously wrote Trainspotting for Boyle and the 2017 sequel. He also wrote Shallow Grave and The Beach.

James Bond 25 is due out for a November 8, 2019. Daniel Craig is set to return for his fifth and final performance in the role as 007 agent James Bond.
