With a fifth Scream on the way, many fans are curious about whether Screeam 4’s Kirby will be making a return and David Arquette would love to see it happen. Arquette spoke with Hollywood Life promoting his new documentary You Cannot Kill David Arquette and discussed the upcoming fifth film, during which he was asked about the idea of Hayden Panettiere reprising her role as the horror-savvy Kirby Reed, who may or may not be dead after the events of Scream 4.

“I love Hayden,” said Arquette, who is confirmed to be returning as Dewey Riley. “I think she’s a tremendous person and actress, and I’d love to see her back.”

Kirby was stabbed and left for dead in Scream 4 during the bloodbath at her house that left several other characters definitively lifeless. However, we never see her confirmed dead and Dewey himself has suffered far more brutal stabbings in the franchise. Many fans have expressed a desire for Panettiere to return to play the role.

As of now, there’s been no word that Panettiere has been in talks to return. Arquette is set to return along with Courteny Cox, and Neve Campbell is in talks to reprise her role as Sidney Prescott. New to the franchise with Scream 5 are Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega, as well as directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett. It will release next year, which is the 25th anniversary of the first movie.
