It looks like the DC Blue Beetle movie is following Batgirl with a streaming release on HBO Max. A report by the LA Times about WarnerMedia’s ramping up of original content for the streaming service notes that along with the previously-reported HBO Max release for the Christina Hodson-written Batgirl movie, Blue Beetle will be a mid-budget DC movie releasing on the service as opposed to theaters.

Blue Beetle is written by Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer (Miss Bala) with Angel Manuel Soto (Charm City Kings) set to direct. It will focus on Jamie Reyes, the third Blue Beetle who was created by Keith Giffen, John ROgers, and Cully Hamner. Jamie received the Blue Beetle scarab after stumbling upon it on his way home from school and having it attach to him, giving him an extraterrestrial armor with the superpowers of the Blue Beetle.

It has also been reported that the Static Shock movie, which Michael B. Jordan is producing, is also headed to HBO Max.
