Amazon MGM has found the director for the next James Bond film in none other than Denis Villeneuve. THR reports that Villeneuve will helm the new Bond film, which will be the first to come from Amazon MGM Studios.
Tanya Lapointe will executive produce the film while Amy Pascal and David Heyman will produce. The film positions Villeneuve behind another powerhouse franchise following his work directing Dune and Dune: Part Two for Warner Bros. Pictures. He is currently prepping for the third Dune film that will shoot later in the summer.
“Some of my earliest movie-going memories are connected to 007. I grew up watching James Bond films with my father, ever since Dr. No with Sean Connery. I’m a die-hard Bond fan. To me, he’s sacred territory. I intend to honor the tradition and open the path for many new missions to come,” said Villeneuve in a statement. “This is a massive responsibility, but also, incredibly exciting for me and a huge honor.”
Villeneuve will be tackling the first film since No Time To Die ended Daniel Craig’s run as the iconic spy in 2021. It is also the first film since Amazon MGM took creative control of the franchise following a deal with Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli.
Still no word as of yet on who will play the spy in the upcoming film.
