Speaking to IGN, Castlevania and Dredd 3D producer Adi Shankar revealed that he’s developing a new animated series based on the popular Capcom video game franchise, Devil May Cry. Shankar stated that the planned show “will join Castlevania in what we’re now calling the bootleg multiverse.”

Shankar wouldn’t provide too many specific details, but he stated that he “acquired these (Devil May Cry) rights myself so the jabronis in Hollywood don’t f*** this one up too.” He credited the new project to the success of the Castlevania show. He stated, “Castlevania really over-performed. It did crazy well. We immediately got greenlit for Season 3.” Thanking the fans who made this all possible, Shankar said, “I wouldn’t have a job if it wasn’t for the fans.”

Previously, Studio Madhouse produced a 12-episode Devil May Cry Japanese anime series that ran in 2007. The show was set in the same continuity as the games. Following the announcement, he shared the following tweet showing him as Dante, the game series’ longtime protagonist. There are no details yet on the network or launch platform for the show just yet.

Season 2 of the Castlevania series recently debuted on Netflix last month. You can check out 411’s official review RIGHT HERE. The show was recently renewed for a third season.
