Marvel has put a halt to filming on Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness as COVID-19 surges in the UK, according to Elizabeth Olsen. The Doctor Strange sequel was filming in the country, but Olsen spoke with Jimmy Kimmel while promoting WandaVision and said that things are shut down on the film for the time being.

“Since the hospitals are overwhelmed here, we can’t go back to work until that calms down,” Olsen told Kimmel (per JoBlo). “I’m just safely hanging out here, and just really grateful I get to be working. Disney has kept me busy during quarantine!”

Some film and shows are continuing to film in the country, as they have not been required to shut down. However, Disney made the call to stop filming on the MCU film, which stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Olsen, Benedict Wong, Rachel McAdams, Chiwetel Ejiofor, and Xochitl Gomez. Directed by Sam Raimi from a script by Jade Bartlett and Michael Waldron, the film is currently set to release on March 25th, 2022.
