Don’t Breathe was one of the most pleasant horror surprises to come along in some time, and a sequel is officially set to go. THR reports that Sony Pictures has greenlit the sequel to the 2016 Fede Alvarez-directed film, with co-writer Rodo Sayagues set to direct. It will be his directorial debut; in addition to co-writing Don’t Breathe, Sayagues also co-wrote Alvarez’s Evil Dead film. Alvarez will remain as co-writer and executive producer.

Stephen Lang will be back in his role as the Blind Man for the film, which is set several years after the original. The new film finds the Blind Man “living in quiet solace…until his past sins catch up to him.”

Don’t Breathe focused on a group of thieves who broke into the Blind Man’s home, only to find out that he was very far from helpless. There’s no word on whether Jane Levy, who played Rocky (one of the thieves), will be back for the sequel. The original earned high marks from critics and fans and grossed $157.1 million worldwide from a budget of just $9.9 million.
