Emmy Nominations: Shogun Leads With 25 Nods, The Bear Scores 23

The 2024 Emmy nominations are in, with FX’s Shogun leading the field at 25 nominations. The TV Academy announced the nominations on Wednesday morning, with the period drama HBO series scoring nominations across the field including Outstanding Drama Series, Lead Actor in a Drama: (Hiroyuki Sanada), Lead Actress in a Drama (Anna Sawai) and more.
Behind Shogun was The Bear, with the FX series scoring 23 nods including Outstanding Comedy Series, Lead Actor in a Comedy (Jeremy Allen White), and more. Hulu’s Only Murders in the Building earned 21 nominations, followed by True Detective: Night Country (19) and The Crown (18).
This year was the first without a number of heavyweight shows that completed their runs, such as Succession and Ted Lasso. That allowed for a number of first-time nominees such as Prime Video’s Fallout and Netflix’s 3 Body Problem in Outstanding Drama Series, as well as Reservation Dogs and Palm Royale in Outstanding Comedy Series. Matt Berry and D’Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai earned their first nominees in Lead Actor in a Comedy Series for What We Do In the Shadows and Reservation Dogs, respectively; Liza Colon-Zayas got her first Lead Actress in a Comedy nod for The Bear; and X-Men ’97 is among the first-time nominees for Best Animated Program.
HBO & Max led the list of nominations in terms of service/platforms with 107 nominations, followed by Netflix with FX with 97. You can see the full list of main categroy nominations below.
