The Eternals Rumored to Feature First LGBTQ Lead for Marvel Film

According to a rumor reported by That Hashtag Show, Marvel Studios is reportedly looking to cast an openly gay actor to play the first LGBTQ lead in a Marvel project. According to the report, it would be the lead character for the upcoming 2020 film, The Eternals.

Per the report, Marvel is currently looking for a male actor in the 30-49 age range who “physically looks like a superhero” to portray one of the lead heroes for the film. The studio is said to be open to actors of all ethnicity, but Marvel is said to prefer an openly gay actor in the role.

Additionally, a favorite casting prospect has apparently already been identified for the role of Ikaris. Chloe Zhao is attached to direct the project. The Eternals is reportedly slated to start filming in the UK in September through January 2020.
