Fede Alvarez to Produce Next Texas Chainsaw Massacre
The next Texas Chainsaw Massacre film will come from someone with some horror credibility in the form of Fede Alvarez. Bloody Disgusting reports that Alvarez, who directed Evil Dead and Don’t Breath, is producing the upcoming film for Legendary Pictures. Alvarez will not be directing and is currently looking for someone to helm the film.
According to the site, while creative plans are not yet set in stone the ideal is to follow create a direct sequel to the 1974 Tobe Hooper-directed original film as opposed to trying to follow up on the reboot continuity or the full sequel range of the original continuity. This is a similar path to what Blumhouse and Universal did with Halloween.
Legendary was seeking to gain the rights to develop the film after film rights had gone back to Kim Henkel, who wrote and produced the original as well as directing 1994’s Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation.
