First Synopsis Released For Marvel’s The Eternals

The first official plot details have been released for the next big ensemble film of the MCU in Marvel’s The Eternals. Marvel announced the plot synopsis ahead of an investor meeting on Tuesday, which makes official that the heroes will do battle with their longtime enemies of The Deviants.

That news is not particularly shocking to anyone who knows of The Eternals, mind. In the Jack Kirby-created comics, the Eternals are a race of ancient human beings created by the alien Celestials to be the defenders of Earth against The Deviants, who are their destructive counterparts. The two groups went on to battle each other throughout history to see which would eventually become the ultimate race.

The official synopsis for the film, which opens on November 6th, is:

Marvel Studios’ The Eternals features an exciting new team of Super Heroes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, ancient aliens who have been living on Earth in secret for thousands of years. Following the events of Avengers: Endgame, an unexpected tragedy forces them out of the shadows to reunite against mankind’s most ancient enemy, The Deviants.

The outstanding ensemble cast include Richard Madden as the all-powerful Ikaris, Gemma Chan as humankind-loving Sersi, Kumail Nanjiani as the cosmic-powered Kingo, Lauren Ridloff as the super-fast Makkari, Brian Tyree Henry as the intelligent inventor Phastos, Salma Hayak as the wise and spiritual leader Ajak, Lia McHugh as the eternally young, old-coul Sprite, Don Lee as the powerful Gilgamesh, Barry Keoghan as the aloof longer Druig, and Angelina Jolie as the fierce warrior Thena. Kit Harington was cast as Dane Whitman.
