Danny Boyle and Alex Garland are back with 28 Years Later, and the first trailer for the zombie sequel is now online. Sony Pictures released the trailer for the follow-up to 28 Days Later and 28 Weeks Later on Tuesday morning, and you can check it out below.

The trailer gives us our first look at Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Jodie Comer in the new film, along with Ralph Fiennes as a terrifying-looking human. There are also a host of Rage Virus-infected people, including what some people have suggested might be an infected version of Jim, played by Cillian Murphy in the original film. Murphy is not in the cast list for the new movie, though he is an executive producer.

Boyle and Garland wrote and directed the new film, respectively, and a direct sequel 28 Years Later II: The Bone Temple was shot back-to-back under the direction of Nia DaCosta. The first film in the new trilogy releases on June 20, 2025 and is described as follows:

It’s been almost three decades since the rage virus escaped a biological weapons laboratory, and now, still in a ruthlessly enforced quarantine, some have found ways to exist amidst the infected. One such group of survivors lives on a small island connected to the mainland by a single, heavily-defended causeway. When one of the group leaves the island on a mission into the dark heart of the mainland, he discovers secrets, wonders and horrors that have mutated not only the infected but other survivors as well.
