First Trailer, Poster Released For Wrestling Biopic Cassandro

The wrestling biopic Cassandro made waves when it debuted at Sundance earlier this year, and the first trailer and poster are online. Prime Video released the trailer and poster for the drama, which stars Gael Garcia Bernal as the legendary exotico and releases on September 15th in theaters before it hits Prime Video on September 22nd.

Directed by Roger Ross Williams from a script he co-wrote with David Teague, the film stars Bernal, Roberta Colindrez, Perla De La Rosa, Joaquín Cosío, and Raúl Castillo and is described as follows:

Saúl Armendáriz, a gay amateur wrestler from El Paso, rises to international stardom after he creates the character ‘Cassandro,’ the “Liberace of Lucha Libre.” In the process, he upends not just the macho wrestling world, but also his own life. Based on a true story.
