The follow-up to Netflix’s The Haunting of Hill House arrives in October with The Haunting of Bly Manor, and the first trailer’s online. Netflix dropped the first teaser for the second season of their haunted house anthology created by Mike Flanagan, and it reveals an October 9th release date.

You can see the teaser below, which offers some hints of what to expect from the 1980s update to the Henry James ghost story classic The Turn of the Screw. We get a look at some creepy ghosts and dolls, a glance at the lake which is very relevant in the original story (and its many film adaptations), and some of the elements that will be incorporated from James’ other ghost stories.

The new installment stars some of the cast members from Hill House including Henry Thomas, Victoria Pedretti, Kate Siegel, and Oliver Jackson-Cohen. New to the franchise are Amelie Bea Smith, Benjamin Evan Ainsworth, Rahul Kohi, Amelia Eve, T’Nia Miller, and Tahirah Sharif. It’s described as follows:

1980s England. After an au pair’s tragic death, Henry Wingrave (Thomas) hires a young American nanny (Pedretti) to care for his orphaned niece and nephew (Smith, Ainsworth) who reside at Bly Manor.

They are joined there by the estate’s chef Owen (Kohli), groundskeeper Jamie (Eve), and housekeeper, Mrs. Grose (Miller). But all is not as it seems at the manor, and centuries of dark secrets of love and loss are waiting to be unearthed in this gothic romance. At Bly Manor, dead doesn’t mean gone.
