The First Trailer for X-Men: Dark Phoenix Is Here
21st Century Fox has unveiled the hotly-anticipated first trailer for X-Men: Dark Phoenix. You can check out the trailer below for the superhero action film, which opens on February 14th, 2019. James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Jessica Chastain, Alexandra Shipp, Tye Sheridan, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Sophie Turner, Evan Peters and Lamar Johnson star in the film, which will be directed by Simon Kinberg.
icking up ten years after X-Men: Apocalypse, X-Men: Dark Phoenix finds the X-Men in a place they’ve never been before: national heroes. The team embarks on a routine mission into space where things quickly take a turn and they find themselves in a battle with an intergalactic force over team member Jean Grey.
Set ominously to a cover of The Doors’ “The End,” the trailer shows hints of the storyline to come, as it chronicles Jean Grey’s arrival to the X-Mansion in the past and hints at Charles Xavier (McAvoy) having done something to limit her power. From the looks of it, Jean’s growing power as a result of her space mission and her starting to be corrupted as the Phoenix. Of course, Mystique (Lawrence) and Magneto (Fassbender) end up involved, with mutants choosing sides as Jean’s abilities grow to a potentially-disastrous level.
The film will likely be the final full X-Men film for the studio before it is enfolded into Disney, making it the probable capper for the current continuity.
