The X-Files

The truth is apparently still out there. TVLine reports that FOX is working on an animated comedy spin-off of The X-Files, set in the unlikeliest of places. Series creator Chris Carter set to executive produce, but won’t write or serve as a showrunner. The series is called The X-Files: Albuquerque and it’s already been given a script and presentation commitment from FOX.

The series will follow an office of agents so ridiculous and insane that not even Mulder and Scully would bother with them. Considering they once investigated killer robot cockroaches, that says a lot. As you might guess, this means that as of now, David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson will not be involved. The pilot will be written by Rocky Russo and Jeremy Sosenko, who will executive produce with Carter and Gabe Rotter. Bento Box will be the animation studio.

This is the latest iteration of the show after its original run (1993-2002), two films (1998 and 2008) and the revival (2016-2018).
