Gemma Chan Joins Cast Of Captain Marvel As Minn-Erva

Deadline reports that Gemma Chan (Humans) has been cast as Minn-Erva/Doctor Minerva, a Kree geneticist and spy, in Captain Marvel. She joins a cast that includes Brie Larson, Jude Law, Samuel L. Jackson and Ben Mendelsohn. The film will take place in the 90s before the rest of the MCU, with the Skrulls as the main villains.

The film follows Carol Danvers (Larson), an Air Force pilot who was the human companion to the original Captain Marvel (Mar-Vell). When she gets her DNA fused with an alien after an accident, she gets super powers of strength, energy projection and flight. Minn-Erva will have similar powers. The film is directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck from a script by Geneva-Robertson Dworet (rewritten from a draft by Meg LeFauve and Nicole Perlman). Kevin Feige will produce. The film opens on March 8, 2019.
