Gemma Chan made her MCU debut in Captain Marvel as the Kree special ops sniper Minn-Erva, but she may be switching roles for a spot in Eternals. Variety reports that Chan, who played the Starforce member in this March’s Captain Marvel, is in talks to join the cast of the upcoming cosmic MCU film.

According to the report, it isn’t known whether she would be playing her original role and “some sources have indicated that her part in The Eternals would be a completely different role.” This would be a rarity within the MCU. Considering the makeup-heavy looks of some of the Eternals and their enemies the Deviants, it’s possible her look could be different enough that she’s not recognizable compared to Minn-Erva.

Chan is a rising star between her role in Captain Marvel and her major role as Astrid in Crazy Rich Asians. She is likely to reprise that role in the upcoming sequel, Crazy Rich Girlfriend. If she does join Eternals, she would join a cast that includes Angelina Jolie, Richard Madden, Kumail Nanjiani, Lauren Ridloff, Brian Tyree Henry, Salma Hayek, Lia McHugh, Don Lee, and Barry Keoghan.

Directed by Chloe Zhao, Eternals will release on November 6th, 2020.
