The Grid Collides With the Real World in Official Trailer Debut of TRON: Ares

Worlds collide in the newly released trailer for Disney’s TRON: Ares. Walt Disney Studios recently debuted the trailer earlier this week at CinemaCon 2025 in Las Vegas. The trailer is now available for the upcoming sequel to the iconic TRON franchise, which you can view below.
Ares is the latest follow-up to 1982’s seminal sci-fi film, TRON, and its 2010 sequel, TRON: Legacy. The story follows a highly sophisticated program, Ares (Jared Leto), who goes from the digital world to the real world on a dangerous mission, marking mankind’s first encounter with the A.I. beings. The new trailer features footage of forces from the Grid entering the real world, complete with Light Cycles, the Recognizer, and Light Jets, causing massive havoc and destruction.
The sequel is directed by Joachim Rønning and stars Jared Leto, Greta Lee, Evan Peters, Hasan Minhaj, Jodie Turner-Smith, Arturo Castro, Cameron Monaghan, with Gillian Anderson, and Jeff Bridges, who once again returns as Kevin Flynn. While Flynn doesn’t appear in the trailer, he can be heard in the voice-over, saying, “Ready? ‘Cuz there’s no going back.”
The last film, TRON: Legacy, featured Flynn’s son, Sam Flynn, and the ISO program, Quorra, escaping into the real world, with Kevin Flynn seemingly sacrificing his life to save his son and Quorra from the rogue program, CLU 2.0. It’s unknown if Sam, Quorra, or Bruce Boxleitner’s Alan Bradley and Tron will be appearing in the sequel in any capacity. Thus far, Kevin Flynn appears to be the only returning character.
The film is produced by Sean Bailey, Jeffrey Silver, Justin Springer, Jared Leto, Emma Ludbrook, and original franchise creator Steven Lisberger. Russell Allen serves as executive producer. Disney’s TRON: Ares uploads into theaters on October 10.
