Guillermo Del Toro’s Nightmare Alley Trailer Teases Stars, Mystery, and Noir Terror

Guillermo Del Toro’s noir thriller Nightmare Alley arrives at the end of the year, and the first teaser hints at the star-filled story to come. Searchlight Pictures has released the first teaser for the film, which arrives in theaters on December 17. You can see the trailer below.

The film is based on William Lindsay Gresham’s novel of the same name (previously adapted to film in 1947) and stars Bradley Cooper as Stanton Carlisle, Cate Blanchett as Dr. Lilith Ritter, Toni Collette as Zeena, Rooney Mara as Molly, Willem Dafoe as Clem Hoately, Ron Perlman as Bruno, Mark Povinelli, David Strathairn as Pete, Richard Jenkins as Ezra, and Holt McCallany as Anderson. Directed by Del Toro from a script he wrote with Kim Morgan, it is described as follows:

In NIGHTMARE ALLEY, an ambitious carny (Bradley Cooper) with a talent for manipulating people with a few well-chosen words hooks up with a female psychiatrist (Cate Blanchett) who is even more dangerous than he is.
