Haley Bennett Joins Eli Roth’s Borderlands in Key Role

The cast of Eli Roth’s Borderlands movie continues to grow, adding The Girl on the Train star Haley Bennett in a new key role. IGN reports that Bennett has joined the video game adaptation in the role of a new character to the franchise. While her character’s name has yet to be revealed, the site reports that she will be “key to the past” of Lilith, played by Cate Blanchett.

Bennett joins a cast that includes Blanchett as Lilith, Jamie Lee Curtis as Dr. Tannis, Jack Black as Claptrap, Ariana Greenblatt as Tiny Tina, and Florian Munteanu as Krieg. The film is based on the best-selling video game franchise from Gearbox Software and 2K and will be directed by Roth from a script by Craig Mazin. Set in the distant future of of 2864 AD, the games take place on Pandora, a supposedly mineral-rich planet colonized by megacorporations that proves to be a highly dangerous environment. Artifacts from a long-extinct alien race known as the Eridians lead to the discovery of valuable vaults that factions and individuals battle against each other against in the race to discover the untold treasure and power.
