Pinhead is set for his small screen debut, with It producer Roy Lee and Dan Farah at work on a Hellraiser TV series. Deadline reports that the dyo are teaming with Hellraiser rights-holders Lawrence Kuppin, David Salzman, and Eric Gardner for the television project, which will use the previous films in the franchise as a “launch pad” for its premise.

Details are stills scarce on the series, which could take either an anthology or traditional long-form narrative format. A showrunner has yet to be found and once that’s done, the producers will pitch the show to networks and/or streaming services.

Hellraiser is one of the iconic franchises of the late 1980s and early 1990s, introducing the Cenobytes led by Pinhead to moviegoers. Based on writer/director Clive Barker’s The Hellbound Heart, the series has spawned four theatrical films and six direct-to-video versions that had a much-less revered status than the original two movies.

It is worth noting that, like Child’s Play, the rights to TV and film for Hellraiser are owned by different entities which means that films will move forward without any connection to the series.
