Henry Cavill To Star In Warhammer 40,000 Series, Amazon In Talks For Rights
Henry Cavill is trading his cape for grimdark armor, as he’s set to star in a Warhammer 40,000 series for Amazon. THR reports that Cavill is attached to star in and executive produce a series adaptation of the popular wargame at Amazon, who are in final talks for the rights to the Games Workshop property. No writers or showrunners are yet attached for the series, which Vertigo Entertainment will executive produce.
Warhammer is the most popular brand in the wargaming world. Launched by Games Workshop in 1987, the tabletop game has become a worldwide hobby and has spun off into comics, tabletop roleplaying games, books and more. It is set in a “grimdark” universe 40,000 years in the future where where mankind is at constant war with aliens, magical beings, and more.
Cavill, who it was announced yesterday will no longer play Superman in DC films, is a passionate fan of Warhammer and has served as sort of an ambassador to the hobby.
The project is still in its early stages, and Cavill has other projects that he is working on right now.
