20th Century Studios delivered the first trailer this week for the upcoming post-apocalyptic drama The Dog Stars, directed by famed auteur Ridley Scott. The upcoming feature is due out later this August. You can check out the trailer below.
Based on the bestselling book of the same name by Peter Heller, the upcoming feature stars Jacob Elordi, Josh Brolin, Margaret Qualley, Allison Janney, Benedict Wong, and Guy Pearce. It also features a screenplay by Mark L. Smith. It’s produced by Ridley Scott, Michael Pruss, Smith, and Cliff Roberts, with Lily Brooks-Dalton, Brandon Scott Smith, Peter Heller, and Aidan Elliott serving as executive producers.
The story follows a young pilot, Hit (Elordi), who, along with a military survivalist, Bangley (Josh Brolin), has carved out an efficient but isolated homestead in a brutal post-apocalyptic world. However, after Hig receives a mysterious radio transmission, he ventures into the unknown, searching for the hope and humanity he believes still exist.
20th Century Studios initially revealed the trailer earlier in April at CinemaCon 2026. The Dog Stars opens in theaters and IMAX on August 28.
