James Gunn has been regularly shooting down rumors regarding the DC Universe going forward, and his latest involves a rumor involving Zachary Levi and Shazam. Gunn, who is the co-CEO of DC Studios, took to Twitter to debunk a rumor started on the DCEU Leaks subreddit that Levi had been replaced as Shazam by Titans & Smallville alumnus Alan Ritchson.
Gunn was tagged (twice) by fans wanting to know if the report was accurate, and Gunn responded very succinctly and vehemently in the negative, as you can see below.
It’s important to note that while this report was debunked, there is no word currently on Levi’s future as the character. Shazam: Fury of the Gods is falling short for Warner Bros. Discovery and DC, having grossed just $57.2 million domestically and $128.6 million worldwide against a hefty $125 million budget.
@JamesGunn is this true? 🤔 https://t.co/yFLvbuvdQp
