James Gunn is moving quickly on his follow-up to Superman, revealing that his treatment for the film is complete. Gunn has revealed that the treatment for the next film is complete, making the confirmation at Wednesday night’s Peacemaker season two premiere and then adding some more context while speaking to Collider on Friday.
Gunn told Collider, “We’re scheduling it now. I’m totally done with the treatment. My treatments are incredibly intense. They’re not regular treatments. They’re 60-page treatments with dialogue and everything. And so, now I’m just turning that into a script. We’re planning out when we’re going to shoot that. It’s going to be much sooner rather than later.”
Plot details are not yet clear on the new film, which will follow-up on the events of Superman. The DC Universe relaunch has been a sizable hit for DC and Warner Bros. Pictures with $335.6 million domestically and $586.6 million worldwide thus far.
Gunn’s planned film is separate from Supergirl, which is being directed by Craig Gillespie from a script by Ana Nogueira and stars Milly Alcock as the titular Kryptonion. That film is set to release on June 26th, 2026.
