Jimmy Kimmel 2020 Emmy Awads

Jimmy Kimmel looked for ways to laugh at the pandemic in the opening monologue for the 2020 Emmy Awards, which is now online. Kimmel kicked off the show with a monologue that referred to this year’s ceremony as the “Pand-Emmys” and featured a cameo from Jason Bateman, who pretended to be a cardboard cut-out in the empty audience until Jimmy Kimmel called him out.

The Emmys are of course taking place under special circumstances this year, with no audience and Kimmel instead delivered his monologue intercut with footage from previous award shows with celebrities laughing and clapping. Kimmel used that to his advantage to get a host of celebs to give him a standing ovation.
