Joey King is set to let her witchy side out to play, as she’s in talks to co-star in the Practical Magic sequel. THR reports that the Bullet Train and Kissing Booth star is in negotiations to play one of the daughter of Sandra Bullock’s Sally Owens in the long-in-development sequel to the 1998 film.
According to the report, King will play Sally’s daughter who discovers the Owens family’s dark secrets and her own magical powers, which puts the family in crisis. Bullock and Nicole Kidman are reprising their roles as sisters Sally and Gillian, witches who are fighting a curse on their family that kills the men they fall in love with. Susanne Bier (Bird Box, The Perfect Couple) is directing the film from a script by Akiva Goldman and Georgia Pritchett. The sequel is shooting this summer for a September 18th, 2026 release date.
Practical Magic, based on the 1995 novel, released in October of 1998. While it was not a hit initially, it has found new life in the years since and a strong cult following. The film became a top 5 performer on Max when it arrived last October.
