Jerry Bruckheimer Says Johnny Depp Isn’t Returning To Pirates of the Caribbean At This Time

Johnny Depp has seemingly been ruled out of returning to the next movie in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, but Margot Robbie has been confirmed as in the mix. Depp is currently embroiled in the ongoing defamation trial involving himself and ex-wife Amber Heard which continues this week.

Producer Jerry Bruckheimer had the following to say during an interview with The Sunday Times about the future of the franchise:

“Yes. We’re talking to Margot Robbie. We are developing two Pirates scripts — one with her, one without.”

Bruckheimer added on Johnny Depp returning to the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise:

“Not at this point. The future is yet to be decided.”

Bruckheimer’s latest film, Top Gun: Maverick, arrives in theaters on May 27.
