Johnny Hardwick Recorded For King of the Hill Hulu Revival Before Passing

King of the Hill co-star Johnny Hardwick passed away earlier this month, but we’ll hear his work as Dale at least a bit more as he recorded for new episodes before he passed. Hardwick passed away last week at the age of 64 in his home in Texas, with no cause of death determined as of yet. TV Line reports that the actor completed work on “a couple” of episodes of the new Hulu revival of the series prior to his death.

Hardwick voiced the role of the conspiracy-minded Dale Gribble in all episodes of the Fox animated comedy. It is not yet clear if another voice actor will be brought in to finish out the episodes for the revival, which is set to release on Hulu next year.

Representatives for 20th Television Animation and Hulu declined to comment on Hardwick’s completion of the episodes and issued a joint statement which read:

“Johnny Hardwick was an incredibly beloved member of the King of the Hill family, whose tremendous talent, brilliant humor and friendship will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to work with him over the past 25 years. Our deepest condolences go out to his friends and family as we mourn the loss of one of the animation greats. His voice gave life to one of our most iconic characters, and he will be truly missed.”
