Karen Gillan Joins Cast of Highlander Remake Opposite Henry Cavill & Russell Crowe
The Hollywood Reporter reports that MCU veteran Karen Gillan is joining the cast of Amazon MGM Studio’s upcoming remake of Highlander. Gillan will reportedly play Heather, Conor MacLeod’s mortal wife, and the love of his life.
Karen Gillan joins the Highlander cast opposite star Henry Cavill as Conor MacLeod, Russell Crowe as Ramirez, and her fellow MCU and Guardians of the Galaxy co-star Dave Bautista as The Kurgan. Marisa Abela has also been cast in the upcoming action fantasy feature, which comes from Amazon MGM’s United Artists banner. It’s being directed by Chad Stahelski of John Wick fame and is reportedly scheduled to start principal photography at the end of next month.
Stahelski directs from a script by Michael Finch. The projcet is beiing produced by United Artist’s Scott Stuber and Nick Nesbitt, alongside Neal H. Moritz, Stahelski’s 87Eleven Entertainment, Josh Davis of Davis Panzer Productions, and Louise Rosner.
Gillan is no stranger to major franchise with her work on the MCU and Sony’s Jumanji films. A third Jumanji is also reportedly in the works. She also recently appeared in Neon’s The Life of Chuck, based on the novella by Stephen King. The film received the People’s Choice Award at the Toronto International Film Festival. Highlander does not yet have an official release date, but it’s reportedly slated for a theatrical release.
