Karen Gillan is excited for fans to see Nebula’s arc in Avengers: Infinity War and its as-yet-unnamed sequel. Gillan spoke with Screen Rant promoting the home video release of Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle and said she was surprised how integral the characters has become for the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

“I had no idea that this was where the character was going,” Gillan said. “I genuinely signed onto the role thinking it was eight days of filming and then I was going to die in the first Guardians. Three movies later and there’s three more to come out it’s, like, crazy.”

She went on to discuss Nebula’s role in the coming films and how it reflects the character’s arc in the comics. “It’s funny because I read the Infinity Gauntlet, which is what the new Avengers films are based on, as research for my character because it’s her sort of biggest moment within the Marvel comic book world,” she said. “And then to find out they’re making a double-bill feature based on that, I was just so excited actually because Nebula gets some really cool stuff.”

Of note, Gillan’s comment about “three movies later and three more to come out” strongly hints at the idea she’ll be in Guardians of the Galaxy 3 as well as another film after the two Avengers films. As of now, she has appeared in Guardians of the Galaxy and its sequel, with Infinity War marking her third appearance and the unnamed fourth Avengers film marking her fourth.

Avengers: Infinity War releases on April 27th.
