Keanu Reeves has not yet had the chance to play a comic book superhero and the one he always had his eye on has passed him by, he feels. Reeves spoke with Andy Cohen on his SiriusXM show promoting Bill & Ted Face The Music and was asked about if he ever regretted a role he missed out on, naming Wolverine as his answer.

“For me, I always wanted to play Wolverine,” Reeves said (per JoBlo). “It is too late. It was filled really well. I’m all good with it now.”

The role was filled, of course, by Hugh Jackman (after nearly being played by Dougray Scott). Jackman leapt to super-stardom and set the Guinness World Record for longest career as a live-action Marvel superhero, playing the X-Men character in nine films from X-Men to Logan.

As for Reeves, he’s played a host of heroic characters but not yet a superhero. Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige did say in June of 2019 that he’s spoken with Reeves several times about being in a Marvel film, saying, “We talk to him for almost every film we make … I don’t know when, if, or ever he’ll join the MCU, but we very much want to figure out the right way to do it.”
