Kevin Feige has confirmed longstanding reports that one of the cast members for Marvel’s The Eternals will be playing an openly gay character. The Marvel Studios boss spoke with Good Morning America (per EW) and confirmed the news.

Feige would not confirm which character among the dramatis personae it was but said that the character is fully out, noting, “He’s married, he’s got a family, and that is just part of who he is.”

The news confirms the report from March that one of the characters would be LGTBTQ. That report suggested it would be one of the “lead” roles, which has yet to be confirmed.

The film stars Angelina Jolie as Thena, Richard Madden as Ikaris, Kumail Nanjiani as Kingo, Gemma Chan as Sersi, Salma Hayek as Ajak, Brian Tyree Henry as Phastos, Lauren Ridloff as Makkari, Lia McHugh as Sprite, Don Lee as Gilgamesh, and Kit Harington as Dane Whitman aka The Black Knight. The Eternals is set to release on November 6th, 2020.
