Natalie Portman is set to take up the mantle of Thor (as Jane Foster) in Thor: Love & Thunder, and Kevin Feige said it only took one meeting to get her on board. Feige told CNN that Taika Waititi, who will return to direct Love and Thunder, was quick to pitch the idea of the film, and that once Marvel was on board, Portman was equally quick to agree.

“We love the story — it’s one of the best comic runs recently,” Feige said of the Jason Aaron run of Thor that saw Jane Foster take on Thor’s name and role. [Waitit] would flip through and read that run while he was doing Ragnarok. And I think when he agreed to come back and do another Thor, he was like, ‘How do we–?’ This is a very big movie that’ll be folding in a lot of elements. That is a huge important part of it. He pitched it to us, and we were totally in. We loved it. We’d been in touch with Natalie. She’s part of the MCU family and we put she and Taika together. It took one meeting and she agreed to do it.”

Thor: Love And Thunder will also star Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson, and will release on November 5th, 2021.
