Kevin Feige Says ‘We’ll See’ As to Whether Eternals Will Be on Disney+
Kevin Feige has not ready to confirm an exclusive theatrical release for Marvel’s The Eternals. Feige was asked by Variety at the Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings premiere about whether the Chloe Zhao-directed film will be seen in theaters or at home — in other words, if the film will get a Disney+ Premier Access release — and he kept things non-committal.
“I think a theater would be my preference, and Chloé’s preference,” Feige said. “We will see where we go with it.”
The Marvel Studios president’s response comes as COVID-19 cases are spiking and throwing things back into chaos. Marvel is giving Shang-Chi an exclusive theatrical release, but with three months left until Eternals there are a lot of factors that could come into play forcing the film to a hybrid release. The film is directed by Zhao and stars Angelina Jolie, Gemma Chan, Salma Hayek, Richard Madden, and Kumail Nanjiani, among others. It is set for a November 5th release date.
Will fans be watching #Eternals at home or at the theaters? "I think a theater would be my preference and Chloe [Zhao]'s preference. We will see where we go with it," says Kevin Feige. https://t.co/Tgq3Td0b9l pic.twitter.com/GyCIz04kjs
