Kevin Feige has his own answer for why Nick Fury didn’t page Captain Marvel For during the events of Avengers: Infinity War. /Film spoke with the Marvel Studios president for an interview and asked him about the pager that Carol fixes up for Fury in the just-released Captain Marvel, asking why Fury didn’t use the pager when Thanos’ Black Order was threatening New York City.

“Well, I’d say two things,” Feige said. “One, she does say it’s gotta be a real emergency, right? Yeah…The other thing I’d say is how do you know he never hit it? How do we know he never pushed it before? We’ve never seen him push it before. That doesn’t mean he never did.”

The first part of the answer is similar to the answer Samuel L. Jackson gave, in which the Nick Fury actor said, “Other emergencies could be handled by the people who were present. It’s just an alien invasion, that’s something that could be handled. Half the population wasn’t dying and flicking off and doing whatever.”

Captain Marvel is now open in theaters. You can see our review of the film here
