Kristen Wiig in Talks to Play Wonder Woman 2 Villain

Comedy star Kristen Wiig is in talks to play the villainous role of Cheetah in Wonder Woman 2. THR reports that Wiig, best known for comedies like Bridesmaids and Ghostbusters, is in talks to play Barbara Minerva, aka Cheetah, in the DCEU sequel.

While the choice may seem to be an odd one for a comic book action film, Wiig has also played in more serious fair such as Ridley Scott’s The Martian and the voice of an AI in Spike Jonez’ Her. Petty Jenkins is back to direct the film with Gal Gadot of course set to reprise her role as Diana. The film will be set in the 1980s against the backdrop of the Cold War and will release on November 1st, 2019.

Barbara Ann is for most people the mosat iconic version of Cheetah, one of Diana’s most popular villains. She is a British anthropologist who delves deep into Africa in search of the lost city of the Urzkartagan tribe. Upon finding it, she found the Urzkartagans in the midst of a ritual involving the power of their cheetah god, Urzkartaga. Through a sequence of events, she ends up empowered by the god to become the avatar of the cheetah, which gives her superhuman speed and strength, but also an insatiable appetite for blood.
