Lorne Michaels Wants Pete Davidson To Get Help

As we previously reported, Pete Davidson posted what appeared to be suicidal thoughts on Instagram, shortly before making an appearance on Saturday Night Live. Page Six reports that while Davidson appeared in a pre-recorded skit and introduced a live performance, he was actually set for other sketches. Lorne Michaels decided to cancel those skits after the Instagram post went viral.

A source said: “The decision was taken to give Pete a break on Saturday night – his sketches were dropped before the early evening rehearsals. Lorne has pledged to help all he can, including sending Pete to get help. Everyone on the cast is hugely protective of him and were obviously upset — particularly Colin Jost and Michael Che on ‘Weekend Update.’”

Davidson will likely return to SNL in 2019 when it returns, as there have been no talks of him taking time off.

The post that worried fans and his fellow cast members read: “I really don’t want to be on this earth anymore. i’m doing my best to stay here for you but i actually don’t know how much longer i can last.” NYPD performed a wellness check at 30 Rock studios. Ariana Grande, his ex-girlfriend, showed up to see him but he refused to talk to her.

Davidson left the studios with friend Machine Gun Kelly after the show, after MGK took an emergency flight to see him. The rest of the cast and guest stars (including musical guest Miley Cyrus and fiance Liam Hemsworth) were at the after party. MGK posted at the time: “I’m in the plane now on the way to see Pete. gonna make sure he’s good, i promise. can’t have my boy in the darkness like that.”

Davidson moved back in with his mother Amy after he broke up with Grande. He also sought treatment back in December of 2016. In September, he told Howard Stern that he went back to drinking and smoking again after he was diagnosed with borderline personality disorder. He added that he smokes marijuana to help with Crohn’s disease, an inflammatory bowel disease that affects the digestive tract lining. It caused his weight to drop to 110 pounds.

He said: “I was sober for three months at one point and was like this f—ing sucks.”

Back in June, he told Peter Rosenberg that the party’s back on and added: “I found out I had a mental disorder. I thought I had a drug problem. It’s a completely different thing.“
