Martin Scorsese has finally commented on Joker, a film that was heavily influenced by Scorsese classics Taxi Driver and The King of Comedy, indicating to The New York Times that he’s in no rush to see it.

“I saw clips of it,” Scorsese said of Joker. “I know it. So it’s like, why do I need to? I get it. It’s fine.”

Scorsese has, of course, spoken out about not being a fan of Marvel movies and what superhero movies represent in Hollywood, and also passed on producing Joker. Joker has gone on to become the first R-rated movie to gross over $1 billion worldwide.

Scorsese’s The Irishman was recently released on Netflix, and he’s also one of the producers for the indie darling, Uncut Gems.
