Marvel Studios & ABC to Present Chadwick Boseman – A Tribute for a King and Commercial Free Airing of Black Panther Tonight

The world was massively rocked by the tragic passing of actor and MCU star Chadwick Boseman last Friday (Aug. 28) after battling colon cancer. In tribute to the actor, Marvel Studios and ABC Entertainment and ABC News are set to present a commercial-free airing of Black Panther tonight on ABC. Additionally, this broadcast will be followed by a special ABC News Legacy and Career With Special, Chadwick Boseman – A Tribute for a .

Good Morning America co-anchor Robin Roberts will be serving as the anchor for tonight’s tribute to Boseman. Tonight’s commercial-free debut of Black Panther will run from 8:00 pm to 10:20 pm EST. This will be immediately followed by the tribute special from 10:20 pm to 10:00 pm EST.

The ABC News special will celebrate the life, legacy and career of the late actor, along with his his cultural imprint that he made on- and off-screen. It will feature tributes that have poured in from celebrities, political figures and fans across the world, special words from those who starred alongside him and knew Boseman best, and shine a light on the medical condition he privately battled.

Marvel’s Black Panther, starring Boseman received seven Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture. It won Oscars for Best Costume Design, Best Original Score and Best Production Design. It’s the first superhero film in history to receive a Best Picture nomination and the first MCU film to win an Academy Award.
