Matt Damon Reportedly Joins Thor: Love and Thunder

Thor: Love and Thunder has reportedly added a new cast member in none other than Matt Damon. According to news.com.au, Damon arrived in Australia on Sunday with his family and is starting quarantine ahead of his joining the production in the country.

Details are sparse as to Damon’s role in the film. The star had a cameo in Thor: Ragnarok as the actor who played Loki in “Odin’s” (actually Loki’s) staged version of the Thor story for Asgardians. It is conceivable that somehow he is playing that role again, or he could be cast in a new role.

Damon joins a cast that includes Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Tessa Thompson, Christian Bale, Chris Pratt, and Vin Diesel in the film, with the latter two reprising their roles as Guardians of the Galaxy Star-Lord and Groot. The film is based on Jason Aaron’s run on The Mighty Thor, which saw Jane Foster taking up the mantle and becoming Thor at the same time as she’s fighting cancer.

Thor: Love and Thunder is set to release in theaters on May 6th, 2022.
