Mike Flanagan Says There’s ‘No Way’ His Exorcist Film Arrives Next March

Mike Flanagan says that the planned March 2026 release date for his Exorcist film is definitely not happening. The horror maestro was set by Universal Pictures for that release date in June of 2024, but Flanagan responded to a fan question on Tumblr to manage expectations about the film arriving next year.
Flanagan said:
Production hasn’t started, we need to finish CARRIE first. No way it’s coming out next March. Nothing to worry about though.
Flanagan’s Carrie adapation is set up at Amazon MGM Studios as an eight-episode limited series with Summer Howell playing the lead role and Flanagan regular Samantha Sloyan playing Margaret White.
The writer-director’s Exorcist film is “all-new story set in The Exorcist universe” and came to pass after the studio’s original plans that kicked off with The Exorcist Believer were scuttled. Plot details aren’t yet known regarding the film.
