Mission: Impossible Sequels Receive July 2021 and August 2022 Release Dates

Deadline.com reports that Paramount Pictures has set the release dates for the next two planned sequels for the Mission: Impossible franchise. The the untitled Mission: Impossible 7 will arrive on July 23, 2021. Meanwhile, Mission: Impossible 8 will arrive on August 5, 2022.

As previously reported, writer-director Christopher McQuarrie, who directed Rogue Nation and Fallout, recently signed on to direct another two installments of the film series. Meanwhile, Tom Cruise is expected to return along with Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, and Rebecca Ferguson.

Speaking on the news, Paramount CEO and Chairman Jim Gianopulos stated, “We couldn’t be more excited to build on the massive success of Mission:Impossible—Fallout by re-teaming with Chris and Tom on these next two films, following two successful collaborations.”

He added, “We’ve also enjoyed a great partnership with Skydance and David Ellison on these three most recent films and look forward to continued success together on this great franchise.”

Thus far, the film series has grossed $3.5 billion worldwide. The last film, Fallout, grossed $791.1 million worldwide and $220 million at the domestic box office. The film also received great reviews with a 97% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
