Axel Foley will be making his return in Beverly Hills Cop 4, and it will be done through Netflix. Deadline reports that the streaming service has made a one-time licensing deal with Paramount to make a fourth film in the iconic action-comedy franchise, with an option for a fifth film. Jerry Bruckheimer will be back to produce the film, with Eddie Murphy returning to reprise his role as Axel Foley.

The film will be the first from the series since Beverly Hills Cop 3 in 1994. There has been talk of a fourth film for years but it has never coalesced into anything. However, Murphy is in the middle of a bit of a career revival, with Dolemite Is My Name being a hit with critics and moviegoers while Coming 2 America is currently in production.

Paramount and Netflix have teamed up two other times, with the previous ones coming in the sci-fi thrillers The Cloverfield Paradox and Annihilation.
